Can you take amitriptyline and tramadol together?
Not unless you want to have a SEIZURE. I took these two same drugs and had a very painful seizure. Never again. There are cases of people dying from the interaction of these two drugs. You can find them by searching. Also, tramadol should not be mixed with any tricyclic drugs, including cyclobenzaprine (Flexaril). The actual answer is it is NOT advised by health care professionals ie; doctors, pharmacists. The reason being is there is a condition which your chances of having the condition increases, it is known as serotonin syndrome; it's best that you discuss this with your doctor and pharmacist. Serotonin syndrome is very serious and can be fatal. People are monitored when in the "risk" category. again talk with your doctor and pharmacist.

Yes, but only when under physicians orders. Alprazolam (Xanax) is a benzodiazepine class anxiolytic andanti-panic agent used for the treatment of acute anxiety states, management of anxiety disorders, and for panic disorder with orwithout agoraphobia. Alprazolam acts on the neurotransmitter GABA,the… primary inhibitory neurotransmitter regulating neuronalexcitability. Tramadol (Ultram, Tramal, Contramal, Zydol) is a centrally actingsynthetic opioid analgesic used for moderate to moderate severepain, particularly peripheral neuropathy. The analgesic effect oftramadol and its major metabolite, O-desmethyltramadol is primarilydue to binding to ü-opioid receptors. Often considered a"pseduo-opioid" tramadol derives a significant amount of analgesicaction due to moderate inhibition of the reuptake of norepinephrine(noradrenaline) and serotonin, much like the antidepressantvenlafaxine. To answer the questions directly, it can be safe to take the twodrugs as prescribed by a doctor. Benzodiazepines are commonly usedin addition to opioids due to the potentiating abilitybenzodiazepines have on opioids. Due to tramadol's inhibition ofthe reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin it posses mildanxiolytic effects which can enhance the action of alprazolam. However tramadol is seldom used to treat anxiety and otherbenzodiazepines (ie clonazepam, diazepam) are more commonly used inpain management. I personally have a Large Herniated Disc and several other problems with my back and was at one time prescribed Hydrocodone/APAP and Tramadol. Hydrocodone is a pain reliever that is the generic brand of Vicodin and Tramadol the generic brand of Ultram that is used to treat moderate and severe pain a…nd treats neuropathic pain. I mixed the two only after contacting my local 24 hour pharmacy, and they assured me it was safe, but that the mixture of the 2 medications will cause extreme drowsiness. The combination worked pretty well for me. But as always, talk to your doctor(s) and pharmacist prior to taking anything. No, do not mix the two, Tramadol will react to the Flexeril. See your Doctor. ________________________________________ Yes you can mix. My doctor just gave me those 2 drugs for my tailbone pain. EXACTLY 10mg of Flexeril and 50mg of the Tramadol. I also take Welbutrin so that is safe as well to mix. If it was not safe I doubt she would give it to me. the pain clinic I go to is very conservative with drugs. They give drugs only if you are on some program that uses mind over matter as well. They never give drugs alone AND not for a prolonged period. But as with anything make sure your doc knows about every med you are taking. Flexeril and Tramadol are sometimes combined for moderate for sever back pain. There is an interaction that increases the effect. The combination also has a high risk of seizure and should be monitored carefully. It's worked fine with me. Do not take it with a MAO inhibitor or if you have heart problems. Tramadol and Flexeril are addictive and should only be used for 2-3 weeks. I've been using for 6 months with no issues. (MORE)
Yes you can. My dr just prescriped them to me together. he said they work better together.
You can take these 2 drugs together but there are some long termand short term effects that may come up. Some of these thingsinclude irregular heart rate, depression, and anxiety.
Yes, many doctors and health care providers including myself will recommend this to patients if inflammation is an underlying cause to the pain..
Taking Tramadol HCL Along With Adderall, Is Not TypicallyRecommended. Due To The Fact That Tramadol And Adderall Both LowerYour Bodys Seizure Threshold. You can, but one is going to supersede the other. Tramadol is aCentral Nervous System (CNS) depressant while Adderall is a CNSstimulant. Adderall …is an amphetamine that speeds you up whileTramadol is a painkiller with sedative side effects that is goingto slow you down. I had a patient that took Cocaine (stimulant) and Heroin(depressant) and the result left her unresponsive and barelybreathing. She received Narcan (narcotic reversal agent) whichreversed the Heroin and in turn gave her super-human strength and aheart rate of about 180. (MORE)
Yes, you can. Tramadol, the generic name for Ultram, a non-narcotic pain medication, can be taken with cold medications and anti-histamines, which is what Nyquil is. Just don't drive or operate any dangerous equipment when taking either of these medications, since either one of them can cause drowsi…ness, and both of them together can increase the drowsiness. And please, don't take more than the recommended dose. (MORE)
Taking oxycodone along with tramadol can have serious side effectslike increased seizures and breathing problems. Only take thesetogether under a doctors supervision.
Yes you can. My dr just prescriped them to me together. he said they work better together.
No, not according to a friend who landed in the emergency room after having a seizure while on the way to work at 5 in the afternoon. Doctors thought she had a stroke until they admitted and found it was the drug combo. I think everyonel needs to question their doctor and pharmacy regarding taking t…hese drugs instead of just taking them blindly. Make a choice. . These two medications should not be taken together. Ambien/Zolpidem is a hypnotic sedative and will make you fall asleep. Its purpose is for short-term treatment of insomnia. Tramadol/Ultram is a narcotic pain reliever that causes drowsiness and has had many reported adverse side effects (including seizures and severely depressed respiratory drive). Taking two medications that have very similar effects (drowsiness, slowed motor response, and are CNS depressants, etc) are extremely dangerous and shouldn't be done without on or under the advise of a physician or pharmacist. It depends. Some forms of tramadol already have acetaminophen in them. It is important that you check to be sure your prescription does not already have acetaminophen in it. If your prescription for tramadol is only tramadol, and you are absolutely certain there is no acetaminophen in it, then yes, …they work well together. However if you are in doubt or are not absolutely sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist first. Old answer: Yes, if your liver is healthy enough. (MORE)
Cjonb and I have spent the last two days researching this. The results are as follows: . This mixture may cause seizures... . What apparently happened was that this problem was not noted in clinical trials of the drug, but was later reported in the field after the drug was approved. And so the la…bels were changed. . A little background is necessary: . Tramadol itself can cause seizures, especially if the patient is overdosing * Trycyclic antidepressants are pretty extreme, as they have some nasty side effects. They're not quite the drug of last resort, but they're getting there. * If someone on tricyclics and tramadol seizes, it's very hard to identify the exact process that caused the seizure -- maybe the tramadol; maybe the psyche med; whoknows? * The Cyclobenzaprine molecule, like quite a few other compounds, has three rings in attached to a central structure, as do tricyclics. This alone would usually not be enough to counterindicate -- but in this oddball case, it is, or should have been. * These two meds were often prescribed together, and even today, probably still are. * The seizure risk, while extant, is not extreme. * Taking any drug means you're accepting a desired effect, and a few undesired ones. It's pretty much never purely all benefit. Tramadol is like this. . (MORE)
It is fine to take the drugs clonazepam and tramadol together. Theside effects of the drugs will increase, so caution should be made.

i would think so b/c tramadol isn't considered an opiod b/c each drug is chemically structured differently.
Yes, there is no problem in taking those 2 drugs together. However, you might see a little bit more dizziness and drowsiness in taking the 2 drugs the same day, but is a normal effect and should get better with time.
You should seek advice from your doctor to make sure yourmedications will not have any contraindications. These questionsare best answered by some one licensed in the medical field.
Yes and No Monitor Closely, and discuss with your Mental health doctor of any side effects. Tramadol ( Ultram ) + Lithium Interaction Rating: MAJOR Be cautious with this combination. Talk with your health provider. Tramadol (Ultram) can affect a chemical in the brain called serotonin. Li…thium can also affect serotonin. Taking lithium along with tramadol (Ultram) might cause too much serotonin in the brain causing confusion, shivering, stiff muscles, and other side effects. This interaction is listed with Drugs.com, rxlist.com and others. This interaction is not listed in pharmacy's publications except for mental health drug interactions handbook. A lot of private doctors do not know of this interaction and prescribe it anyway. Have caution while taking this combination, or any combination with Lithium. (MORE)
You can, just dont take very much at first. If you feel alright, the next day try a tiny bit more. If you are really in doubt, ask a professional. I self-medicate and the only way to do it well is to not do to much of anything at once
it would be best to consult a doctor but yes you can take panadol with tramadol. but for anyone reading this tramadol is a b***h to withdraw from. how i know this i have been on tramadol on two separate occasions and both times i was told by doctors that i can take tramadol with panadol for extra …pain relief. Yes, but in moderation. High doses are dangerous of either of them, especialy when they are combined. Seizures have been known to happen with tramadol and mixing it with dravocet can increase this but only in those who are prone to seizure. Be careful with taking both because they act togheter to ca…use a "high" effect that will impair your motor functions. (MORE)
Bad idea, unless your doctor prescribes it. DO NOT TAKE ANY COMBINATIONS OF DRUGS WITHOUT A DOCTOR'S CONSENT!!!
According to Drugs.com. GENERALLY AVOID: Due to its serotonergic activity, coadministration of tramadol with serotonin-enhancing drugs such as SSRIs, SNRIs, nefazodone, trazodone, and mirtazapine may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condit…ion thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5-HT1A and 2A receptors. Symptoms of the serotonin syndrome may include mental status changes such as irritability, altered consciousness, confusion, hallucinations, and coma; autonomic dysfunction such as tachycardia, hyperthermia, diaphoresis, shivering, blood pressure lability, and mydriasis; neuromuscular abnormalities such as hyperreflexia, myoclonus, tremor, rigidity, and ataxia; and gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Patients receiving tramadol with serotonin-enhancing drugs may also have an increased risk of seizures due to additive epileptogenic effects of these agents. MANAGEMENT: In general, the use of tramadol in combination with highly serotonergic agents should be avoided if possible, or otherwise approached with caution if potential benefit is deemed to outweigh the risk. Patients should be closely monitored for symptoms of the serotonin syndrome during treatment. Particular caution is advised when increasing the dosages of these agents. The potential risk for serotonin syndrome should be considered even when administering serotonergic agents sequentially, as some agents may demonstrate a prolonged elimination half-life. (MORE)
I don't think you can. I take amitripline for depression and taking the antibiotic on top made me feel really depressed and sad. As soon as I stopped taking flucloxacillin I felt normal again.
Yes. They are two different compounds that work well together. So well that some formulations of tramadol contain acetaminophen already, going under the brand name Ultracet. So make sure you read the label before you add more acetaminphen/Tylenol (or even take Nyquil). If you see tramadol + APAP,… this means you have that generic formulation. Acetaminophen can do severe liver damage (to the point of killing you). It has a daily limit of 4000mg. 3000mg if you are going to be using it every day. Tramadol is a special kind of opiate, where it works both like morphine and also on serotonin receptions. Therefore, there IS a daily limit, and it can potentially interact with SSRI/SNRI medications, as well as the tripan migraine medications (which also work on serotonin receptors). Supplements such as St. John's Wort work on serotonin receptors as well. It is important to make sure your prescribing physician knows everything you are taking and to follow the prescribing advice on how much to take. (MORE)
I'm certain you can. I recently had a Grade 2 MCL injury and I was given 50mg of Tramadol (one pill 4 times a day as needed) along with 750mg of Nabumetone (two pills once a day).
Yes you can but the risks of this combination needs to be CAREFULLY monitered, amitriptyline is a sedative tricycle anti-depressent and ambien is a Non-benzo (Z Drug) classification. Mixing both together would most likely cause you to black out depending on how many you take.
These drugs are contraindicated. Tramadol interacts with the SSRI antidepressants and makes it much more likely that you will develop a potentially fatal condition known as Seratonin Syndrome. This causes rapid heartbeat, sweating, tremors, muscle rigidity, confusion, hallucination, a rise in body t…emperature which can be fatal, hallucinations, and coma. You also have an increased risk of having a seizure. Do not take tramadol with SSRI medications. (MORE)
You can check all known interactions of drugs yourself with the website http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.php. Simply type in the drugs you wish to find and select the correct drug from the dropdown menu. All known interactions will then appear. . Interactions searched: . Flexeril (cycloben…zaprine) . traMADOL . 1 Interaction found: . Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) and traMADOL ( Major Drug-Drug ) . SERIOUS PROBLEM: The risk of seizures may be increased during coadministration of tramadol with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI antidepressants or anorectics), monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptic agents, central nervous system stimulants, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, other tricyclic compounds (e.g., cyclobenzaprine, phenothiazines), and/or any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold (e.g., carbapenems, cholinergic agents, fluoroquinolones, interferons, chloroquine, mefloquine, lindane, theophylline). These agents are often individually epileptogenic and may have additive effects when combined. Many of these agents also exhibit CNS- and/or respiratory-depressant effects, which may be enhanced during their concomitant use with tramadol. POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Caution is advised if tramadol is administered with any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold, particularly in the elderly and in patients with epilepsy, a history of seizures, or other risk factors for seizures (e.g., head trauma, brain tumor, metabolic disorders, alcohol and drug withdrawal, CNS infections).. My doctor has prescribed me both at the same time, plus theresearch I've done, I don't see any evidence of danger associatedwith the combination.
Tramadol is a medication given for mild pain, while lorazepam is a benzodiazapine and is normally taken for anxiety disorders. Generally speaking, it's not advised to mix the two together. However, dosages must be considered when a situation calls for prescribing both medications.
I take 200mgs of luvox and 100mgs of elavil at bedtime and sleepvery well. But I am wondering if it is too much seratonin and willI get seratonin syndrome?
I am not a doctor but I had a seizure and it was told to me by an epileptic clinic at Vanderbilt and proven that there has been research done that this causes seizures. I never took Tramadol again and it has been 6 years and I never had another spell. In 2003, the research that had been done was f…airly new. Please do not mix the two drugs and if you are taking Paxil, make sure that you always triple check with the doctors and pharmacists that what you are prescribed will not interfere with Paxil. (MORE)

You should really check with your doctor or pharmacist for this answer. These drugs are in the same class and if not prescribed by together by the same doctor, questions should be asked.
This is OK to do. The antibiotic is fine with the pain medicine. Remember that both of these are harsh on the stomach, though. Have some food before you take them! I have been on a combination of prozac 80 and elavil 100 since early 2008. I don't like being on more than one med, but it does work very well. Only complaint is the sexual side effects...no libido at all!
i do not suggest the mixing of tramadol with substances other than marijuana. Even then, tramadol is deserved to be taken by it's lonesome.
I take it now and the side effects is it makes you unusually tired about 2.5 hours into the dosage. If you are sitting down at a desk or other stationary place you are assured to fall asleep. I find it best to take at bed time ... and you will definitely have some weird dreams. Have been on it… for close to 18 months now Rick (MORE)
You can but only in low doses, as they both effect serotonin. I wouldn't take more than 50mg Elavil and 50mg 5 HTP daily. Exceeding this could cause a rare bu serious condition(serotonin syndrome).
The answer is yes you can, I have been using them both for years with no problems. That said, dosage of both could be an issue as they both have CNS effects. Even though tramadol is a synthetic version on codiene in its action, it does effect the CNS by slight stimulation, also it works with seroton…in, not like an SSRI but it sort of like an agonist. Not really recommended (especially at high doses) since both medicines inhibit serotonin reuptake therefore increasing the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition.

heck yeah dawg. I took some adderall and tramadol together. crap just made me feel normal.. wouldn't really advise it, but wouldn't advise against it either. (had to take out the swears)
