Could it possibly be meningitis if an 8 year old girl has a sore neck but can make her neck touch her chest though says it's sore to do so and does have energy unlike question about 6 yr old?
It would be impossible for anyone to make an accurate diagnosis through the Internet, so you should take your child to the doctor. Even if it turns out to be something as simple as sleeping badly, at least you'll know and have peace of mind.

Ok so. It really depends where these lumps are. These sound like lymph nodes. You have lymph nodes all over your body but the primary ones that you will notice are behind the ear (occipital lymph node), two areas down your neck from the edge of your jaw down to your collar bone (cervical nodes), one big one under each of your tonsils, some on the shoulder area and a nice little guy under your chin. The lymph nodes serve as a way for your body to drain infection and fight it or to drain excess fluid. When the lymph nodes get swollen, like any part of your body, it hurts. If they are infact lymph nodes they will be about the diameter of a dime or smaller and will move around a bit when touched. Generally, they are a sign of infection somewhere near the area they are inflamed. So, if they are the occipital nodes you may have a fungal, viral or bacterial infection. This can be something as simple as ringworm or a pimple. It can also be something worse. If they are bothering you go see a doctor. Well I have just noticed these two large lumps on the back of my head... sounds like they are glands. However they are painful to the touch and quite large. I have psoriasis, mostly on the scalp, but only have mild breakouts every few months. With these lumps I also got a very bad breakout of psoriasis- I don't think it's been this bad since I was a little kid. Also the inside of my ears are aching, I have a bunch of tiny bumps on my forehead, I've been getting lots of headaches, my throat kind of hurts, and I generally feel weak and tired. With psoriasis I also get bumps on my hands, mostly knuckles, and something else I haven't gotten since I was a kid are extremely swollen and tender joints. OUCH! From all the research I've been doing online it sounds like this is a viral thing. Of course I recommend to anyone that if lumps ANYWHERE on your body exist for more than a couple weeks, get it checked out! good luck hello there i have also been searching for an answer online. i first felt a lump at the right rear side of my neck which was movable but hurt like a bruse then noticed one on my head which over the last week has spread on my head to extremly itchy little bumps on my head.the only thing i have been doing is going to a tanning salon but i never had this problem last year and i wear a light reflective cap. i took some anti histamines today but they did not work! today my forhead has also started to itch with little spots? if you get an answer or anyone who reads this knows anything more please let me know. many thanks mel Had similar problem. Sore bumps on the back of my head (near crown) that were sore to the touch, with painful points. Went to the doctor who diagnosed it as folliculitis. Also caused lymph nodes in the back of the head to swell (with a large lumps under skin on neck). Very uncomfortable. Doctor prescribed anitbiotics to help stop the infection. May take over a month to fully heal. I am not a big tanner, but had the blues and went tanning 1 day for 10 minutes since then I have had lumps on my head and a rash that is continuing to grow( over 6 weeks later). I have been tested for lupus and lymphoma....spooky stuff. I found this site while trying to research my possible "issues" and now wonder if my tanning (boost me on a rainy day) efforts have not messed me up some how????? I have a similar case where I have bumps at the back of my neck. They hurt like a bruise when I touch. My doctor diagnosed this as folliculitis but to be on the safe side I've undergone an ultrasound scan which confirmed the diagnose as these can be an indication for a cancer or tumor. These lumps take a few weeks to disappear. They can reappear in different areas of the head usually around the ear or neck. The main reason is a virus infection. Usually these viruses stays dormant in the body and their count is kept under control by the immune system. When your immune system weakens due to other infections or stress, tiredness etc. their count increases causing these lumps to appear. Be alert if it doesn't disappear or reduce in size after a few weeks go see a doctor! I wonder if people who experience these bumps have a history of throat infections or sight problems? Hi, i too suffer from this. Im only 13 and had it for about two weeks, Have any of you started to get alot of headaches aswell, more than usual? And finding them unbareably itchy! This is starting to cause much agrevation for me and leaving me very moody! One of you said do you expierence throat problems and sight? Iv had tonsilitus about 3 times this year! And sights gradually getting worse, i used to have good sight, but its changing. Anyone got a reason for this? I'm 13 and i have this big lump on my head and it's like the size of a nickel and it feels like a bruise. it moves when i push on it and im really scared because some of u said it might be a tumor/cancer or lymphoma or folliculitis. im scared. if anyone has some answers please help me. I'm home alone so i can't get help or a doctor. : Reading your answers scares me. About a year ago I had a lump on the side of my neck, right under my ear pretty much. I was really stressed at the time so I figured that what caused it. I just got over being sick. I asked my friend who is a CNA and she said it was a lymph node and shouldn't be worried. It's still there, just hardly noticeable, really small. It's a little sensative too. The reason I'm here is my friend noticed bumps on her neck last night. On the back of her neck, right under her hair line. I told her about mine and suggested it was a lymph node. I think I'll make her go to the doctor and see what they say. ANSWER Reading about this worries me aswell, i had a lump under my ear, doctors said it was a cyst that went infected, i went to the doctors 2 days ago and was asked to have blood test which is next week, another lump has appeared today and all feel real bruised when i touch them, i also suffer from mouth ulcers bad, so if any one has any suggestions what it could be and try and stop me worrying i would be grateful thanks I had a similar bump on the back of my head that was tender, then developed one behind my right ear and another small one on my neck, followed a few days later by a small patch of what appeared to be acne. I went to my doctor and was diagnosed with shingles, which is the chickenpox virus that remains dormant in our systems but can come back in the form of shingles. I was prescribed an antiviral and pain meds. I am thankful it wasn't more serious. In general, any abnormal or unexplained growth should be reported and evaluated by a medical professional to look for a possible underlying condition. If the lumps do not go away in two weeks, or if they start to get worse, consult a doctor immediately.
Answer . By no means am I an expert in this area, however, I would like to contribute an opinion to this question. For many people, when drinking carbonated beverages, it is quite common to experience a tingling sensation to the neck and chest (commonly painful and uncomfortable) because of the gas that's built up. Unfortunately, many have difficulty burbing or passing the gases through. If you are one of those who must have their Pepsi-Cola or any type of carbonated drink, abstain from them for a few weeks and try to observe the difference.\n. \nPS. I am not a professional; I speak from experience!. Answer . \nA heart problem can cause your neck and chest to hurt.
What could be wrong with your 15-year-old son if he came home today complaining about sore spots or lumps in his neck that hurt to the touch and he had a fever?
Answer . Often an infection can cause lymph nodes to swell and become painful. If the condition doesn't go away soon, see a doctor.
What could be wrong if you were told you were developing a dowagers hump but tested negative for osteoporosis but now your back just below your neck is so sore and painful that you can't lie on it?
Answer . \nHmmm... That's a very complicated question!!\n. \nIf you're seeing a Rheumatologist, I'm sure he/she has checked you for cushing's disease or referred you to an Endocrinologist\n. \nIf you've NOT seen an Endocrinologist, then I strongly suggest you get a referral to see one. Since you report the osteoporosis test was negative, then I personally would refer you to one if you had some of the following:\n. \n. \nCushing's disease (ie an ACTH-secreting adenoma)\n. \nPresenting symptoms\n. \n* psychiatric disturbance (often characterised by amplification of previous personality traits)\n* moon face - particularly filling in of the temporal fossa [temple areas]\n* weight gain - central obesity [primarily body area]\n* muscle wasting and proximal myopathy (patients have difficulty standing from a seated position without use of arms) [weakness]\n* thin skin * - tendency to bruise\n* hirsutism (caused by androgen excess) [male hormones]\n. \nSee [The Pituitary Foundation.org.uk] at http://www.pituitary.org.uk/gp-factfile/4-cushings.htm
Answer . \nTake your child to a doctor. There is a chance that your child may have meninigitis, which is potentially life threatening..
Answer . GO SEE A DOCTOR!. this could be anything from an insect bite to cancer
Answer . My first thought is that it is an abcessed tooth. If not that I would have a doctor check my lymph gland in my neck for an infection.
Do you have another cat in the house that could be inflicting the wounds? I have the exact same symptoms with my oldest cat. She is 14 years old. We can not tell if she is doing this herself...or it is one of the much younger cats (two others...one is 1.5...the other about 7 mos old). . i just took my cat to the vet for this today, she has no flees and is indoor. the vet shaved her neck to see the sores which got bigger. (she looks hilarious) he just cleaned the area, put some ointment (animex i think), and gave her an antibiotic shot. and i have to give her oral pills 2 x a day for 2 weeks...he said its some kind of infection, or dermatitis, that could be from a bunch of stuff. if it doesnt get better hell do a culture and see what it is...fingers crossed shes ok...i read a bunch of forum answers and it could be allergy from anything even food, so i changed the brand of food too....goodluck! . The one area a cat cannot clean is its head. Neck and shoulders. So the cat cannot naturally groom there. I think regular washing would help.
Your 8 year old daughter has a lump in the right hand side off her neck and its extremely painful when it is touched and she will scream in pain she has had this for about 8 week's now please help?
Please see a doctor Immidiately. Any kind of lump in the body should be dealt with seriously and shown to the doctor at the earliest.. I agree with the above - most likely the lesion is an infection of the lymph node (aka - adenitis). There are a few other etiologies for such a clinical presentation, too.
Please ask about your pituitary gland. The soreness of the scalp was an indication that my mother had for a long time before hers was diagnosed.
There are many ways to heal a sore or stiff neck. The fastest is to go to the store and buy a neck brace and wear that at least three hours daily and as you sleep. Other ways are cold and hot pads, neck pillows when you sleep, and avoiding sitting in one spot for long periods of time(computers or gaming systems). On a personal level I know that pain is fixed by the brain. What food is it that feeds the brain the most nutrients?????? FISH FISH FISH....I usually will eat fish for lunch and dinner as i am taking vitamin c to help my immune system.I drink plenty of water to help my muscles calm or hydrate. But the most important thing that you can not do while having a stiff or sore neck is drink alcohol.Alcohol will numb the pain yes,but you twist your neck a lot when you are drunk which wil make it worse.
probably a flea bed that has been scratched to much if the dog can not get to it by licking than put some neosprion on after a good flea bath let shampoo sit for 5 minutes then rince really good if it does not seem to be clearing up in about 4 to 5 days take to your vet
Sore swollen neck mostly on the front left side your throat is not sore however you are also very tired What could cause this?
MY suggestion would be research mononucleolus. which I probably spelled wrong. I am no Dr, but I am researching causes tonite on an unsolved swelling throat myself. My throat is not painful just swollen. For a week the antiobiotics are finished and Its still swollen. My Doc asked me if i was tired after looking at me. I was tested for strep (neg) and mono (neg) But she did say mono causes a swollen throat and makes you sleepy so maybe that will help you.
Perhaps you can provide more information. Are the "lumps" on top of the skin or underneath the skin? On the head, are they on the face or in the hair? Are they colored? Do they itch? Are they painful when touched? Are the lumps close together or spread out over the area?. Definitely contact a doctor or a nurse at the doctors office to be on the safe side.
Neck muscles can become so sore that they start to tingle and feelitchy. To help relieve the soreness, use a muscle rub and an icepack on the area.
A sore bump on the neck can be caused by several things. It may bea pimple or a small boil that is coming to a head. If it does notgo away or gets worse, it is best to see a doctor about it.
What do you say or do when your 8 year old child has been caught inapproiately touching a 6 year old?
I understand this must feel embarrassing but it does not have to be sexual to them like it would be for adults. Ask them why and if they are curious about something because that can often be the case, especially if it's a boy and a girl. They are different and curious. It does not have to be sexual to them. Also remember that for a 6 and a 8yo there is not much difference in age if at all to them. So find out first and tell them that we don't do that until we are much older and that you will talk about this again. Also let them know that they can talk to you and ask you anything they want. It's important to keep an open dialogue about these things especially when they later becomes teens. It will pay off. If you feel it's over your head and you don't know what to do seek help from a child psychologist. Even your child can be embarrassed over what he/she did and all the hoopla it started and might not feel comfortable talking about it with you.
it could be many things, If you have a cat that goes outside they could of got an it from a cat fight or from being attacked from a larger animal. It could also be from a sickness they could of picked up. The best thing to do is take to your vet and see what they say.
I have been very ill for several months now and just the other day my Doctor said my thyroids were underactive. Now I'm taking thyroid pills which helped for 3 or 4 days and now I'm back where I started. I wake up with hands and feet sweating and nausea. The right side of my neck and the back of my head is very sore and can hardly turn it. Now he says my pituitary gland is producing too many hormones. I had a CT scan on my head yesterday so I dont have any results yet. What is your opinion on my condition? I feel tired and weak most of the time.
Large lump on the back right side of your head no injury to cause it making your neck stiff on that side and headaches sore to touch what could this be?
I don't mean to scare you, but it could be a tumor. Go get medical attention!
Could a 17 year old have breast cancer because you found a small slightly sore-to-the-touch lump in your right breast close to your armpit?
Yes, this is possible. Visit your primary care physician as soon as possible. If this is more of a bump on the skin instead of a lump within the breast, it may be a cyst or an ingrown hair follicle. But it should probably be looked at by somebody who doesn't faint at the sight of blood.
Could be glandular fever is your neck swollen? normally the glands under your arms and in the neck swell
It means she touched your neck. It's the same as a male friend or a family member touching your neck. Nothing exciting.
Why does one side of my throat neck bother me at times It's not a sore throat and does not hurt when I swallow but swallowing is loud My neck is uncomfortable on my right side towards the front?
i think i have that same problem. Does it occur worse when your active, such as like play sports or workout?
My cat had a red, sore patch on her shoulder--hers was from excessive licking. The first time I took her to the vet and was given antibiotics and a soft collar to prevent her reaching it. The next time, on her hip, I just used the collar for a few days, put some plain vaseline on it and it starting healing up. My cat is 13 years old... I'm no vet, and have no idea what it could be, but to get rid of it cleanse it out daily and apply a little preasure with a wet cloth if it bleeds If you let your cat outside, she may have been mounted by a cat that's not fixed. When they mount the female they bite the neck to make her stay still.
The cat could be allergic to fleas. Take him to the vet to get him checked out, and treated for fleas.
Alcohol tends to have a lot of negative effects on your body. If you are experiencing pain in the lower/sides of your back it can be related to liver or kidney problems. I would recommend consulting your doctor and drinking a little less.
If you not sore after a workout, your not going to gain muscle. When you lift, what you are doing is making tiny rips in your muscle, your body recovers by building new muscle to avoid it again. So if your muscles arent sore, your not going to gain any muscle.
6 yr old child has a firm lump on right side of neck oblong shape about half inch long in lymph node area other side of neck is tender and possible lump too?
Swollen lymph modes in children is very common and can be from many things including an infection or virus and allergies. Lymph nodes on the neck can be from ear aches/infections, sore throats, runny noses, loose teeth ect... Also lymph nodes may stay swollen long after the infection/problem that caused them to enlarge has resolved. Take him/her to the doctor for an avaluation to make sure he/she doesnt need any medication.
While we don't give medical advice (that's for your doctor to do),there are several reasons why a sore on any part of your body mightnot heal. (1) Some people just heal slowly. (2) The sore has gotteninfected and needs some topical medication to speed healing. (3)You may be deficient in certain vitamins that promote healing. (4)The sore is just taking its time to heal and there is nothing toworry about, as long as there is no pain and swelling. But I wouldstill suggest that you contact your doctor so that he or she canlook it over-- if nothing else, it will give you peace of mind.
Hormonal changes are most likely responsible. This could occur if you have started taking the pill, or it could just be your menstrual cycle. If it persists, you should see a medical professional to make sure you don't have any abnormalities that are causing the soreness. You could also be pregnant.
this is a natural occurance it is the onset of puberty. 9 does seem to be young, however each individual is unique and is set to thits own clock. Watch if this is a daily on going thing or does it seem to cycle, sore and tender for a few days and then fine for a couple of weeks before re-occurring. an onset to puberty does not neccessarily mean that menstruation will begin tomorrow but you can begin to prepare for this now. Remember to drink plenty of water and get rest. Congratulations you are becoming a young woman.
Any time the symptoms include a sore neck and fever, there is a chance of something serious, and a consultation with a health care provider is recommended. There are various conditions that manifest these symptoms and, without diagnosis by a doctor or other health care professional, there is no way to tell if it is a minor problem or something much more serious.
If the child was alone and in 'strange' circumstances and the police found it necessary to talk to him, to find out information, yes they can. If he was taken into custody and questioned in a situation where it was clear that he wasn't going to be released then the parents should have been present.
No contributor to this site can diagnose illnesses, diseases or pregnancy over the internet, nor is it the purpose of this site for them to do so. The best that can be offered is general advice which can never be personal to any asker. If you are truly worried about your condition then you must seek local medical attention.
I am 20years old and my left breast is aching by the nipple area it has a lump as well I noticed it was a bit red from irritation It's so sore I cannot touch it or wear a bra What can this be?
I would consult a doctor as soon as possible. Don't take risks in waiting to long.
A sore neck can be caused by muscle stiffness perhaps due to stress. More serious conditions such as goiter or tonsillitis can occur. There are lymph nodes under the jaw that can become swollen and sore due to an illness elsewhere in the body as well. A cold or flu may make the lymph nodes swell and become tender to the touch After the cold has passed, the nodes will return to their normal size. Meningitis can make your neck very painful and sore. this is a serious disease that needs immediate attention.
Well first you must look at how or what caused your neck to be sore... try heat and if this does not work see a doctor. ____ I agree with the above answer, and I would suggest that if the neck pain does not go away make a doctor of chiropractic your first stop.
Tension headache. Can result From anxiety stress fatigue alcohol jaw or neck strain. If it doesn't go away after sleep or in a couple days see a doctor. Hope this helps :)
Most people have a tiny amount of cancer in their bodies before the age of 21. However, in most healthy people the lymphatic system destroys it before it gets out of hand. Sore glands can be painful for 6 months if they are containing and destroying cancerous cells or diseases.
Well, the only way this is possible is if the female has her menstrual cycle already. A male who is capable of producing sperm, would have sex with this female. During the right time of the month, the male's sperm would fertilize the 6 year old females egg she released during ovulation; thus resulting in pregnancy. The youngest "woman" to ever give birth(at least on record) was a five year old from Peru in 1939.
It is difficult to say with so few details. If your child has fallen or had some other injury recently, it could just be bruising, strain, sprain, etc. If your child is highly active (hopefully so) then it could be an overuse condition that are not usually serious, but can cause discomfort (eg: osgood-schlatters, etc.). If the soreness persists for more than a week or two, please take your child to see a doctor (MD, or Chiropractor, or DO). If it is an overuse condition then activity modifications may be prescribed. Generally, children should not have pain without trauma/injury so it is important to get this checked out. I am not saying that it is something bad, but it is always better to be safe rather than sorry.
Yes, especially if you've started your period. They're growing, that's why they're sore. Hope they don't hurt too much :)
A constant neck pain is definitely a symptom of whiplash. Headaches is also a symptom for whiplash. However, headaches are also symptoms for other things.
If this is happening to you, you might have a minor bruised neck bone. Talk to your doctor.
This has happened to me several times. And all the times i have experienced it, it was on the left-back side of my neck. There are many reasons why you have a sore neck. You haven't slept in the right position You haven't stretched before an exercise or sport You are too stressed Mine happened on a late Saturday morning, after i woke up. Perhaps you slept too much, and you were forcing your neck to one side? Take it easy and have a good rest. If it still hurts after numerous days, i recommend go and see a doctor. I'm sure you'll be fine :)
Streptococcus pyogenes has nothing to do with your sore neck. You should not have tested for strep, any way. Now you are requested to go for ASO titre. If it is normal, you are carrier of streptococcus pyogenes. Regardless of titre, you can go for ten days course of tablet penicillin 250 mg, three times a day.
Is there any possibility that a 14.5 years old girl could still get a growth spurt even though she already get her period since 11?
yep. you grow until you are 21. ive even noticed little hight differences after the age of 19.
I have a one and a half year old female cat with a bleeding sore on the back of her neck and she was lying the the litter tray tonight but not doing the toilet does anyone know what's wrong with her?
There is no way to know what is wrong with the kitten withouttaking it to the vet. It may have been in a fight and the woundneeds attention. It is not normal for a cat to lie in a litter box.It needs medical help.
Are your cats spayed and neutered? If not this is the reason, he istrying to get her to stay still so he can mount her
