The total amount of calories from fat should make up around 30% of your diet. Each gram of fat contains 9kcals. So for example, If you were consuming 1500kcals a day then 30% percent of those calories should be fat. Calculations: 1500kcals / 100 X 30 = 450kcals 450kcals / 9 = 50 grams So a person consuming 1500kcals a day should consume around 50 grams of fat per day. This does not mean to say all these calories should be saturated fats (bad fats). These calories should be consume with unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (good fats) as well. For an average person on a 2000 calorie diet, 20g should be the minimum intake of overall fats, with a maximum of 60g. No one should consume over 20g of saturated fats, and trans fats should be avoided completely.

The average adult should have a minimum of 2000mg-3000mg of potassium per day. This can be achieved through the natural consumption of certain kinds of foods, particularly fruits and vegetables. There are circumstances where potassium is readily lost and needs to be replenished in excess of the minimum daily amount listed above. The number is smaller for children and infants. Anyone with concerns of potassium deficiency, due to food allergies or special dietary requirements, where natural sources for potassium are precluded; should consult a doctor about the exact dosage they need to supplement each day. Potassium is essential for muscle health, particularly the heart. A deficiency, among other things, can cause muscle cramping and in extreme cases, can cause death. People on "low carb diets" will find they need to take special care to get the proper amount of potassium each day, as potassium is used in the ketosis process to diffuse byproduct chemicals left in the bloodstream; therefore additional potassium is needed regularly to replenish the body's potassium stores. Potassium is diffused by the kidneys, through sweat, urine or other bodily excretions. In this manner, excess potassium is removed from the body through urination and sweating. Barring kidney trouble, it is difficult to actually overdose on potassium, but not impossible. People should consume more potassium after intense sweating, if your diet is high in salt or in case of abnormal or extraordinary bodily excretions (such as vomiting or diarrhea) as these will result in a loss of potassium in the excreted bodily fluids. Supplemental potassium can also be needed if you are on certain kinds of heart medicine. Muscle cramps are typically a sign of one being low in potassium.

Multiply your weight in pounds by .66 than divide that number by 8. This gives you the actual number of 8oz. glasses you should consume daily. Example: 125lbs. x .66= 82.5 82.5 divide /8= 10.31 glasses per day I would suggest an average of about 8 glasses everyday, enough that your urine is clear. In countries where there is less humidity 10 glasses might not be required but in hot and humid countries 10 glasses becomes essential to prevent dehydration.Daily water consumption is necessary for hydration. On average, anindividual should consume between 6-8 glasses of water daily. Agreat way to incorporate these regime is to carry water in tow toensure that you are hydrated throughout the day.
"The minimum daily requirement is zero". This is for REFINED sugar, like the processed stuff. It is NOT true that you don't need any sugar in your diet. Sure, you might get away with not eating it for a day or two, but we do actually need sugar in our blood. Although there is apparently no daily minimum requirement for refined sugar, you get sugar naturally from fruit. It is not really possible to completely cut out sugar from the diet, and you wouldn't want to do that anyway, it would be dangerous. However, as long as you are a normally healthy person (not got some kind of health problem where you have inadequate blood sugar levels, for example) you could probably easily give up the sort of sugar that most people will be thinking of, the type not found in plants but in ice-cream, chocolate, etc. as long as you ate fruit. I have looked around, and I can't find anything on minimum sugar intake from plants. I'll come back and update if I find something.
The amount of protein someone should digest is there body weight in pounds for bodybuilders however the recommended intake for a man is 45 grams of protein daily Around 65 grams a day for most people consuming 2000 calories. Athletes and weight lifters need much more, around 1.6-1.7 g/kg body weight (a 150 pound weightlifter would need around 110 grams of protein per day). Many athletes believe they need more than that, but the evidence that protein beyond 1.7 g/kg body weight does anything beneficial is scant. It probably won't hurt, but it probably won't help either.
I've heard under 10%, although I've personally found it difficult to go below 15-20% which I'm currently at.

So if you are diabetic or on pro-diabetes you shouldn't have sugar at all. And what diabetic means is it means when someone ate too much sugar or other foods that contain sugar. So that's why we always check the nutrition facts which is on the back of a pruduct but only a product that you can eat so its edible but you can also drink so the nutrition facts can also be on a drink. So if you're diabetic you should not have sugar but for your diet you can use splenda they get it at any store and you can also use that for your delights and cakes and brownie's etc. And if you have pro- diabetes you should get splenda till it goes away a little. Okay so how much sugar should you get daily? If you are not one of the above than you can have a 15 sugars of limit each day. But just because I said that doesn't mean you can have it everyday. Try to get you limit up to 5 only because that is way good for you and try to eat more vegetables and fruits.

I am refusing to answer this question for one reason - if you are 11, you should under no circumstances be on a low-carbohydrate diet. Children your age who are growing up should eat a normal healthy diet that has high amounts of good carbohydrates. Your normal growth can and in most cases will suffer somehow if your body hits a long term ketosis. Your metabolism will slow down and you will face effects that are the opposite what you wanted.. If you want to lose weight in that age, just limit your meal size and drop sugar. That is it. In six months you'll look better than ever! Add some cardiovascular activities with it and you'll see results in no time..

There is no "ideal" that will suit everyone. Unlike protein and fats, carbohydrates are not essential for health or to sustain life. You would die without proteins and fats but that does not apply to carbohydrates. However, for an average person ( who does not need to lose weight, is not carbohydrate sensitive, is not insulin resistant, and does not have difficulty losing weight) , the diet can provide a large proportion of energy from this nutrient. If you exercise frequently, your carbohydrate intake can be higher. A diet with a low carbohydrate intake can make exercise feel tough, especially if the exercise is anerobic. If exercise becomes tough the result can be a decreased desire to repeat any workout again, reduced workouts equals reduced fitness results! Your diet can provide a carbohydrate intake of up to 60% of total daily energy (unless you need to lose weight, or if you are carbohydrate sensitive, or if you are insulin resistant, or if you have difficulty losing weight). A large percentage should come from natural sources such as vegetables, with some fruit and grains. Approximately 300 grams per day for an average person (who does not need to lose weight, etc) is high and should be adjusted according to needs and individual health status. If you need to lose weight, or if you are carbohydrate sensitive, or if you are insulin resistant (syndrome X), or if you have difficulty losing weight, your carbohydrate intake needs to be reduced and controlled. For more information, about how many carbohydrates per day for weight loss, see the page link, further down this page, listed under Related Questions .
