Answer . Hi there. :-). This result is borderline normal which means you are within the higher end of normal limits and is nothing to worry about.. Medical causes for high WBC is usually infection.
Answer . \nAll females with pregnancy should be followed by a OB-GYN physician at all times. The physician is in the best position to evaluate the pregnancy and all associated lab work. An elevation in the white blood cell (WBC) count is actually a normal and common occurrence during pregnancy. …The WBC peaks in the third trimester in the 12-18,000 range. There is another peak during labor, sometimes up to the 25,000 range. Despite the normal increase in WBC count, there are other causes of elevated WBC counts which a physician can better assess. Answer . Not necessarily. A high WBC count indicates some sort of infection/disease. Eg: Appendicitis gives you a high count.
Most likely there is an infection. My daughter is 5 and her wbc is 16000 and she has fever. She just went to the doctor. She has the flu-throwing up and VERY tired. The doctor is sending her for an ultra sound to rule out appendicitis and another wo9rd i can't spell. Hope this helps you.
infection most likely A normal white blood count is between 4,500 and 10,000 anything above 10,000 can be a slight infection to the high the wbc, more advanced, like perhaps pneumonia. You should always see a doctor if you are running a fever above 100 degrees to determine whether your white count… could be a serious infection. (MORE)
It can mean something, or it can mean nothing. It depends on the clinical symptoms, the differential, and so many other things I can't even begin to answer this question intelligibly. Since above is too informed to state the obvious I will. The MOST LIKELY cause of elevated white blood cell coun…t is infection. Of course there are others. (MORE)
The normal range for this blood count is between 4500 to 10,000white blood cells per microliter. A white blood cell count that isabove this range can indicate a medical problem, such as leukemia, ovarian cancer, and sepsis.
Your white blood cell count is not 18, when your doctor said it was18 they meant 18,000. A normal white blood cell count is anywherefrom 4,000 up to 10,000 so this means you have a high white bloodcell count.
When the WBC count falls below the normal range, it is usually anindication of an underlying disease. The symptoms depend on theunderlying-cause. Some people experience a fall in their WBC countand experience no symptoms. However, for most people, leucopeniacauses a range of symptoms, as if you have… insufficient WBC tofight diseases, your body will be susceptible to a range ofinfections, skin problems, viruses, fever, gastro-intestinalproblems etc. (MORE)
Infection! Speaking as an ICU nurse, a WBC of 21 (which is high) indicates that there is some sort of inflammatory/infection process going on somewhere in your body. It could be as simple as a urinary tract infection or something more serious. Follow up is needed.
A normal white blood cell count is within the range of 4,500 to10,000 cells/mcL, so a count of 40,000 is very high. This wouldindicate that the body is responding to an infection.
A white blood cell count of 2.8 means that it is too low which isan abnormal low. This might be caused by a number of things withthe most common one being pharmaceutical drugs. You should seekmedical attention immediately.
If you have a white blood cell count of 16,000 then your levels aretoo high. Some things that can cause a high count are anemia, smoking, infections, and leukemia.
It would be helpful to know what the units of measure are. In hematology, the reference range for a WBC is 4,500-11,000/mm 3 ; however, the count is usually reported out in SI units ( for example, 4.5 x 10 9 /L) or Conventional Units (4.5 x 10 3 /uL). So, on a lab report, a range of 4.5-11.0 is th…e normal range using these units of measure. If your report is using the standard units of measure, then a WBC of 314 is considered a "panic value". Extremely high. This could be due to several different processes, such as leukemias, severe infections (though this is still high even for a severe infection), and a handful of other conditions. Only your physician, taking all results and factors into consideration, can tell you where the problem lies. (MORE)
A white blood cell count of 22000 mm3 is an elevation of whiteblood cells. This elevation of white blood cells could indicateinfection or leukemia. When a test is not within normal limits, consult a physician as soon as possible.
A white blood cell count of 3.9 is too low. Some things that cancause a low count include viral infections, some cancers, bacterialinfections, and diseases of the liver and spleen.
Bands indicate immature neutrophils. if there is an overwhelminginfection, bands are released from bone marrow
A white blood cell (WBC) count of 12.5 may mean that you have anelevated WBC count. Some causes for this can be that WBC productionis increased to fight an infection in the body, or a person has adisorder of the immune system. There can be many other causes.
There are many different things that can cause a low white bloodcell count. Some of these things include a viral infection, acongenital disorder, cancer, autoimmune disorders, and certaindrugs.
This can be indicative of an infection, inflammation, stress response (or in rare cases, leukemia - if the WBC count is very high).
That is elevated - and probably means that the person with that white count is fighting some infection of some type.
\nGenerally, we think of WBC counts over 10,000 as being elevated and indicating an infectious process is present.
An elevated white cell count and/or a fever generally indicate that there is an infection somewhere in the body. See your doctor for a thorough check up and locate the cause of infection and have it treated asap. Once the treatment is complete, temperature and blood count should return to normal.
And elevated white cell count by itself usually means nothing, provided its not extremely elevated. One must take into account that during pregnancy, the white cell count normally is increased, and may have the characteristics of an infectious increase (PMN type, immature leucocytes in blood). All t…his usually means nothing - when this is combined with fever and/or other symptoms, it must be further evaluated. Also, keep in mind that a single wcc in a single blood test is not so useful as a series of blood tests over time, in order to estimate the wcc pattern (an increasing wcc requires the doctors attention) (MORE)
NO, just because you have an increased WBC count doesn't mean you have leukemia. There are other things in the blood work that would need to be looked at to say for sure. Things like platelet counts, when the tech did a differental did they see blasts or inmature WBC's. Have you been sick? Fever, so…re throat, difficulty breathing, bruising easy? There are a lot of things that need to be looked at before the Dr says if it is or is not leukemia. (MORE)
As with any medical prognosis, it depends on the overall condition and health of the person who has the "low" counts, and what "low" means. For example, being "low" by a few cells is probably meaningless, while having substantially "low" counts may indicate any of a number of conditions. So, without… knowing the exact counts of all the cells which were listed in the question, it is impossible to answer it any further. (MORE)
A white blood cell count of 22,000 is too high. The normal range isbetween 4,500 and 10,000. Your doctor will conduct further tests todetermine why your count is so high.
A white blood cell count of 13,000 white blood cells per cubic millimeter is above the normal range for an adult male and indicates that there is an infection in the body. Something very serious like cancer or other less serious infections such as bronchitis could cause this increase in white blood …cells. Many of these infections are brought about by tobacco use. Since it is common for a tobacco user to get these types of infections, their white blood cell count may often be high. (MORE)
It means you need to see a hematologist. Your white blood cell count is seriously low and you need medical attention. If you are not getting chemo treatments, something is causing your WBC count to be way off. The other main cause aside from Chemo treatments is an auto immune issue, such as lupus or… other auto immune issues.. Foods that help increase white blood cell count are yoghert, garlic, oysters, pot roast, dark turkey meat, pumpkin, squash seeds, shitake mushrooms, spinach, carrots, strawberries, oranges, melon, fish oil, legumes cereals asparagus, brocolli, cauliflower, boiled eggs. milk, figs.. There are drugs that can be admistered to stimulate the bone marrow to produce more white blood cells. (MORE)
This means that you white blood cell count is low and that makes you more susceptible to infections.
Infection, Virus, bacteria, even cancer, but don't freak out, this may not be why.. What did your Doctor say? I would get a seecond opinion asap. My chlds was 22000 it was a urinary tract infection, he was fine after they treated it.
I had a CBC in my doctor office today and he told me my WBC was 2.9. He said I have an infection. But that still doesn't explain a low white blood cell count.
The normal number of white blood cells are 4,500-10,500 white bloodcells per microliter. This number can vary between testing siteshowever. An elevated white blood cell count may indicate the bodyis currently fighting an infection.
that's bad. it means your immune system is very bad. you will most likely get sick easy.
White blood cell count over 20,000 indicates massive infection or a serious disease such as leukemia.
Assuming you are referring to a CSF count and not a blood test, it means you likely have no infection. A normal CSF white count ranges from 0-5, varying from person to person, a higher number likely means you have an infection causing a high white count. One is a perfectly normal number (assuming yo…u are healthy, in most cases) and should be of no cause for alarm. However if you took a blood test and your white count is one, get to a clean room and settle your affairs. (MORE)
A lot of things can increase the white blood cell count. Most commonly it means you have an infection of some kind but there are other things like some drugs, many physical stresses/ illnesses, and cancer.
Why count white blood cells? Because it is an important part of diagnosing and recognizing diseases. White blood cells are what fight illnesses in your body, and if there are more than normal, then something might be wrong. if there are too little, then you need more in case you get sick, or that is… a sign that all the white blood cells are at a different spot in your body- a trouble spot. This is very important and has saved lives. (MORE)
Whoever answered this question with "You probably have a disease. Probably AIDS or HIV. Because the normal range for white blood cells 5,000 to 9,000. Well, you're screwed. lol." is a moron. A high WBC does indicate that there is a disease or bacteria that you are fighting, as white blood cells inc…rease whenever there is an infection present, such as pneumonia, appendicitis, gall stones, and certains types of cancers. It would be wise for you to see your Primary Care Physician as soon as possible. Also, if you are taking any medications - both prescribed and OTC - along with any odd symptoms that you may have been experiencing lately, document these and take the list with you to your next Doctor's appointment. Good luck, and good health! (MORE)

If you had no white cells, you would get lots of very serious infections. White blood cells can find germs that enter your body and destroy them, which keeps them from making you sick. Some white blood cells make antibodies, which are special molecules that can stick to germs and make them harmless.… White blood cells also help repair damaged tissue, which is important in wound healing. White blood cells can even keep certain types of cancers from developing. A single drop of blood contains nearly half a million white blood cells, so your body has to make lots of them every day. White blood cells are made in the soft, inner part of your bones called the marrow, and some of them develop further in a special gland in your chest called the thymus. It is very rare for a person to be born unable to make white blood cells. In the past, such babies usually died of overwhelming infections soon after birth. Some of these babies can now be cured by taking bone marrow or thymus tissue from another person (called a donor) and putting it (transplanting it) into the baby's body. This gives them the ability to make white blood cells of their own, which protects them from infection and lets them live a long life. Sometimes, people who are given chemotherapy drugs to fight cancer, are exposed to large amounts of radiation, or have an illness that damages their bone marrow, become unable to make white blood cells anymore. They may be given special medicines to try to boost their white blood cells, and antibiotics to prevent or treat infections. If their bone marrow doesn't start making white blood cells again, then they too may need to be treated with a bone marrow transplant. (MORE)
A white blood cell (WBC) count determines the concentration of white blood cells in the patient's blood. A differential determines the percentage of each of the five types of mature white blood cells.
Normally it wouldn't cause them to go quite that high but yes it can! If its really severe it can!
Thats VERY SLIGHTLY low!!! But could indicate a chronic disease slowly affecting your WBC but I'd say this is still norm bc range is 4.25-10.25
If the White Blood Count is high and you have immature White Blood Cells called Blasts, then it probably means you have ALL; Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. However, if the lymphocytes are low, this can mean anything from Chicken Pox to TB to Measles, Mumps and Rubella. If your Lymphosites count climb…s, I'd suggest to see an Oncologist to test for ALL. It might mean you have a blood disorder, or an active infection in your body. I am not a Doctor, so I would go see a specialist.
The normal healthy range is 4-10 more or less. 47.1 would be a good indication of a raging infection , complication from meds or a serious blood condition. Please see a Dr Immediately
When the white blood cell count is less than 4,000 per cubic mm, you are said to have low white blood cell count. You have such low white blood cell count in viral infections, chlamydia infections, rickettsial infections, in malaria and typhoid fever. Incidentally they are all the infections inside …your cells. White blood cells can not attack them with out killing your body cells. (MORE)
19000/cubic mm means that you are having bacterial infection most probably. That may be an indication to use an antibiotic.
Usually that there are pathogens present that your body is tryingto fight. Most likely bacterial, however may be certain viruses orpossibly parasitic.
