Why dispose Magnesium Citrate Oral Solution within 24 hours of opening the bottle?
It is suggested you do this to avoid microbial contamination as it attracts moisture from the air. Magnesium Citrate does not decompose quickly. Under the proper conditions it should still be fine to continue using the oral solution after 24 hours. Consider refrigeration, tightly sealing the bottle, or removing the moisture in the bottle with silicon absorbents or a drying oven.

Answer . Anecdotal evidence - instead of taking the Donnatol the doctors have prescribed for Porphyria related pain, I drink magnesium citrate & it works. Donnatol is a muscle relaxer used to stop intestinal spasms. Magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts) works better; but, tastes worse than magnesium c…itrate. (MORE)
Here ya go! . Magnesium Citrate: When Your Best Just Isn't Good Enough Give a patient a glass full of ice-cold cherry flavored mag citrate and a straw, tell 'em to drink it fast, and then...stand back. You'll hear their bowel sounds from the doorway. Mag citrate is a saline laxative--the diffe…rence between it and milk of mag is volume. More volume equals more water equals more...well, you get the idea. I love mag citrate, though it should be used with extreme caution in people with electrolyte imbalances. It'll cure what ails you, for sure. Good Luck! Vrij (MORE)

This is a commonly "prescribed" item to use in preparation for a colonoscopy. While the reaction I experienced may not be common, and it may not be fatal, it was sufficiently severe enough that I will not take magnesium citrate. To begin with, I have acid reflux which is controlled by medication and… never gives me any problem. However, after drinking the bottle of magnesium citrate as instructed by my gastroenterologist in preparation for my colonoscopy, I could not keep it down and regurgitated about 2 tablespoons of the stuff. I then developed a severe burning in my esophagus, probably due to throwing up. Next came extreme chills and shaking. This continued for quite some time, even though I got into bed underneath multiple covers. When the magnesium citrate began to do what it was supposed to do, and I went to the bathroom, the chills and shaking returned. I sat on the toilet for over 3 hours, covered with a heavy fleece cover, shaking like crazy, eliminating "whatever" from my body. When it became evident that the magnesium citrate had run its course, literally and figuratively, the chills and shaking also began to subside. My feeling is my body reacted to this heavy-duty concentration of magnesium. I will not take this item again. (MORE)
no magnesium citrate could probably kill you. Magnesium citrate is generally used as a laxative. It's prescribed by doctors prior to certain procedures, like a colonoscopy. I'm not sure who said it could kill you. This is not true.

The main reason to avoid alcohol following a colonoscopy is because you were given intravenous sedation and pain medication during the procedure. This is also the reason why you are not allowed to drive yourself home after the procedure. The two medications normally given are 1) a narcotic analge…sic (painkiller) - usually Demerol (meperidine) or Sublimaze (fentanyl) and 2) a benzodiazepine (sedative/hypnotic) - usually Versed (midazolam) or Valium (diazepam). One should NEVER mix alcohol with narcotics or benzodiazepines . Doing so may cause severe reactions including death. Incidentally, I had a colonoscopy today and asked the same question before I left the Gastroenterologist's office. (MORE)

Magnesium citrate usually works within 30 minutes to 3 hours, but can take up to 12 hours.
Nominally, none.\n. \nYou should be able to request the maximum permitted contamination levels from the manufacturer if it's not actually written on the label.
I watched a relative drink vinegar one time to clean his system out, though he nearly gagged on it every swallow but it worked. i don't exactly recall how much but i think it was about 2 or 3 shots worth.
It all depends on the person. I just drank one bottle at around 10:00 am... the first effects kicked in around 12:00pm. The more water I drank, the better the result. I have heard they can last quite some time... 8 hours or more. I would say if you are planning to use this, clear your schedule and s…tay close to a bathroom. It should do that on it's own. I've only heard one person say that they felt it in their system for two days. Everyone else says it's out by night time at least, and the same goes for me.

You can't. Your body needs to take time to produce the necessary antibodies, which is how your immune system fights a common cold. That can take from 7 - 10 days for a typical common cold virus. You can treat the symptoms and begin to feel better sooner than that time frame, but each individual will… take different times for the development of antibodies and this can vary depending on the specific cold virus involved. Give it an hour or two. Be sure to drink plenty of water, and be prepared for possible cramping. Taking magnesium is not something you want to do unless you're going to be home (and near a toilet) for the rest of the day.
I don't know but one night I ate cereal and drink it and I woke up and it felt like I was in labor. So I wailed say dont do it.
Magnesium is the pure element, however it is not found in nature by itself, it always bonds with another element. So you have many forms of magnesium such as magnesium Aspartate, bicarbonate, Carbonate, Chloride, Citrate, Gluconate, Glycinate, Hydroxide, Lactate, Malate, Orotate, Oxide, Phophate, Pi…colinate, Propionate, Stearate, Sulfate and Taurate, to name a few. All these different forms have one other element that they are bonded with magnesium + citric acid = magnesium citrate for instance. These different forms of magnesium have two specific qualities A. they have percentage of actual elemental magnesium i.e. how much of the combination is actual pure magnesium e.g. magnesium carbonate is 45% actual magnesium, where as magnesium sulfate is only 10% actual magnesium B. they have a rough percentage of bioavailability (how absorbable and thus useable they are for the body). For instance magnesium citrate is 90% bioavailable and so most of it could be potentially used and absorbed by the body. Magnesium oxide for instance is only 4% bioavailable for the body and so if one took magnesium oxide which had 100mg of actual magnesium in it, there would only be 4mg that the body could possible use. Let me know if this answers your question. Kind Regards, Fifty Pence (MORE)

Yes, you can drink a magnesium citrate solution to stimulate bowel movements. Follow directions (drink lots of water over a period of several hours, before drinking the magnesium citrate - it will work much better that way).

Magnesuim citrate is form of salt that has citic acid in it. It is commonly used in the medical field as a saline based laxative which is used to completey empty out the bowels before a surgical procedure.
Words like "cleanser for the body", if you don't mean in thesense "you could wash off with it, if you didn't have any water,"indicate that you've bought into some questionable pseudo-medicine. To the extent your system needs to be "cleansed", ordinary watershould work just fine. If you've actually …been poisoned with metalions, citrates are chelating agents, though I'm not sure howeffective they'd be administered orally. It is a laxative, though, so if you just meant "cleanser" in thesense "it'll make you poop", that it will do. If you're doing thison your own say-so as opposed to having it prescribed by a doctor, definitely take it easy on the stuff; magnesium is toxic in highdoses ( everything is toxic in high doses) and the typicalmagnesium citrate preparation has several times as much magnesiumas the amount considered "safe". As a one-time thing, as long asyou follow the dosage directions on the bottle you should be okay, but you shouldn't make a habit of it. (MORE)
